How to Put a VPN on Your TV?

Method 1: Install VPN on your router (best for Samsung, LG, Sony)

Most smart TVs (Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Sony Google TV without Play Store, Roku) can't run a VPN app directly. Installing the VPN on the router protects every device on the Wi-Fi, including the TV.

1. Get a router that supports custom firmware — Asus (Merlin), GL.iNet, or any router flashed with OpenWrt.
2. In the router admin panel, go to VPN → OpenVPN or WireGuard.
3. Download a config file from your provider (NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark all publish router configs).
4. Upload, enter credentials, and apply. Connect the TV to that Wi-Fi.

Method 2: Use an Android TV / Fire TV app (easiest)
